Georgia’s Forests Live Exploration awarded Southeast Regional Emmy for Outstanding Informational/Instructional – Long Form Content
In 2024, GFF partnered with GPB Education to host this 1-hour live show featuring Georgia’s working forests. The program reached 45,000 viewers in homes and classrooms throughout Georgia and included segments that featured the tree life cycle, forestry products, and  sustainability within working forests. Students also engaged in live pop quizzes and Q&As with a forestry expert.
Host Ashley Mengwasser and Rayonier’s Shawn DeRome introduced forest products live to thousands of viewers across Georgia.Â
This live GPB broadcast connected Georgia’s forestry industry to thousands of students and families across the state, providing the opportunity for viewers to learn about an industry that supports their everyday lives. From urban landscapes to rural communities, trees sustain our environment and economy. In strengthening this connection between people and the trees they need, Georgia’s forests can continue to be a natural resource that everyone will value and protect.
Thank you to our partners and members for sharing their time and expertise – including:
-Shawn DeRome, Rayonier’s Director of Public Affairs
