The Georgia Forestry Foundation (GFF) is excited to announce its partnership with Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) on the 2025 FarmCraft Challenge. This innovative, educational esports program, designed by the North America Scholastic Esports Federation (NASEF) and supported by GPB, invites students across Georgia and beyond to explore the intersection of agriculture, forestry, and sustainable resource management through the popular video game Minecraft. Registration for students and teachers is open now at gpb.org/education/georgia-farmcraft.
Of the three pre-season challenges this year, students have the ability to show off their forestry smarts with Challenge #3: “Understanding Georgia’s Working Forests,” which highlights Georgia’s timber industry and its contributions to the economy. Students will research sustainable forestry practices and create 3-D exhibits in Minecraft showcasing the products derived from Georgia’s working forests. These models will emphasize forestry’s connection to sustainability and its role as a renewable resource powering Georgia’s economy.
“Through the 2025 FarmCraft Challenge, we’re inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards by blending education with creativity and technology,” said Matt Hestad, Senior Vice President of the Georgia Forestry Foundation.
