This past June, Georgia Public Broadcasting’s Education team accepted an award at the Southeast Regional Emmy’s in the category of Outstanding Long Form Content for ‘Georgia’s Forests Live Exploration’ – a program the Georgia Forestry Foundation is proud to have supported.
Georgia’s Forests Live Exploration awarded Southeast Regional Emmy for Outstanding Informational/Instructional – Long Form Content
In 2024, GFF partnered with GPB Education to host this 1-hour live show featuring Georgia’s forests. The program was broadcast on television and online reaching 45,000 viewers. The show included segments that featured the tree life cycle, forest products, and how Georgia’s working forests are sustainable. Students also engaged in live pop quizzes and had their questions answered by a forestry expert.

This live GPB broadcast connected Georgia Forestry to thousands of students and families across the state, providing viewers with the opportunity to learn about the homegrown industry that supports their everyday lives. From urban landscapes to rural communities, trees sustain our environment – with wildlife, clean air and water – and our economy – with a bustling supply chain that provides more than 143,000 jobs and just under $42 billion in economic impact. In strengthening the connection between people and the trees they need, Georgia’s forests can continue to be a natural resource that everyone values and protects.
