The long-term sustainability of Georgia’s working forests depends on the ability of landowners to effectively and efficiently manage their land. We are connecting and empowering minority landowners with resources, information and access.
Together with the Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources, we support this national-level event to connect women landowners with forestry professionals and experts to support the economic and environmental sustainability of their land.
USDA Forest Service research estimates that 11% to 25% of property in Georgia’s 159 counties is likely heirs property, or property that has been inherited usually by African American landowners with complex legal conditions. That hiers property represents an estimated $34 billion in locked equity. GFF is focused on supporting efforts to provide on-the-ground forest management support and legal resources to heirs landowners while also connecting them to the forestry community.
